He alerts several members of the community, including Hovstad and Aslaksen, and receives generous support and thanks for making his discovery in time to save the town. The next morning, however, his brother, who is also the town's mayor, tells him that he must retract his statements, for the necessary repairs would be too expensive; additionally, the mayor is not convinced by Dr. Stockmann's findings. Short story (Oral)

One Tree One Child   When I was a child my Grandfather planted a tree with me and told me I would always remember this tree. He told me all about the tree and how it was special. The tree was a Red Maple sapling and the same size as I was at the time pretty small. He said that as I grew so would the tree. When I went to my Grandfather’s house in the fall it would be as red as a fire and you could see it for blocks away. It would remind me that my Grandfather said it was a special tree we planted.    As I grew so did the tree and when I was in high school I would go to my grandfathers house in the summer and sit in the shade of the tree and read. It would be cool under the broad green leaves and I could hear the relaxing sound of the rustling of the leaves in the wind. The tree would shelter me from the summer rain and I felt safe in its embrace. As I grew into a man the tree grew tall and strong.   When married I took my new bride and my child to my Grandfather...
