Sample SOP for nursing school.

During my trips to the hospital as a child, the nurses with whom I interacted proved that 'Service to humanity is service to God'. They would not only care for the patients but also were the first to respond to an emergency and would be available to take care of the patient and their families even after things were stabilized inorder to provide comfort and understanding. The above incidents that I encountered in my childhood inspired me to pursue a career in nursing and I hope to fulfill my dream by applying for the nursing program in your deemed university. Throughout my high school I took up a part time job in a neighborhood clinic, where I was attracted to human anatomy and how the drugs interact with human body. I was a science student and my biology class experience proved to be helpful to a great extent. Over the years my huge concern had been how people with chronic illness can survive, but later I realized that nurses play an instrumental role in ensuring that they ...

Sample SOP for music school.

This sample SOP is for applying to a master’s program in Music at London. Statement of Purpose – Music My life’s passion has been music ever since I was old enough to sing. As I have grown and matured, I have been on a constant quest to explore new musical vistas and hone my own technical and composition skills. Now, having earned a degree in music and acquired teaching experience, I desire to challenge myself further by pursuing additional studies overseas. The music education in my native country is somewhat limited and not nearly as open or developed as it is in London, which is why I am attracted to the enriching, inspiring environment of your master’s program. In addition, I look forward to experiencing a new culture and interacting with diverse groups of people, which will broaden both my personal and musical horizons considerably. As a young child, I often played the piano and sang songs with my mother. After learning the basics of piano, I soon began playing pop music by ...

Test on Collocation

Collocation

Collocations What is a collocation? A collocation is two or more words that often go together. These combinations just sound "right" to native English speakers, who use them all the time. On the other hand, other combinations may be unnatural and just sound "wrong". Look at these examples: natural English... unnatural English... the fast train fast food the quick train quick food a quick shower a quick meal a fast shower a fast meal Why learn collocations? Your language will be more natural and more easily understood. You will have alternative and richer ways of expressing yourself. It is easier for our brains to remember and use language in chunks or blocks rather than as single words. How to learn collocations? Be aware of collocations, and try to recognize them when you see or hear them. Treat collocations as single blocks of language. Think of them as individual blocks or chunks, and learn strongly support, not strongly + support. When yo...
